Oakland Zoo

Blipping early as I'm just about to pack for the long flight home and I'll be gaining a day, so this is where blipping gets tricky.

I'd heard the Oakland Zoo was a very good one, so chose that as my last excursion.
I know the zoo is world renowned for its programs for animal care, rescue and rehabilitation, but what's obviously good for the animals comes at a cost to the visitor.
It was hot, crowded and we saw very few animals as most of the enclosures were huge and the animals, quite sensibly, were in dens or sheltering out of view.
