New footbridge.
You would think that having been retired here for thirty years and having walked the footpaths on thousands of days, there would be nowhere left to discover. After all the Arnside / Silverdale National Landscape is only 8 miles by 6 miles.
And yet here is a bridge we have never crossed before today. Moreover it is at the end of a car free surfaced country lane ideal for old men who find it hard at times to see where they are putting their feet.
We shall be back.
At the lower left of the shot , growing by the edge of the
River Keer, you can see a stand of Mugwort, Artemesia vulgaris. This is found widely throughout Europe and right across to Japan.
History records that it has had a multitude of uses, medicinal and culinary. It is also an insecticide. But its pollen is not welcomed by Hay Fever sufferers.
An enjoyable morning.
