FOUND a lovely second hand shop in Drumsheugh (the scene of the great lesbian schoolteacher scandal). I had to let some lush Spanish women squeeze in a bit closer to the bookshelf but never mind..this was playing on their lovely cd player!

anyway...I grabs this book called Crime and Industrial Society in the 19th Century purely because it describes the places where criminals congregated before the social clearances resulting from the arrival of railways as ROOKERIES....
