Tales of a Birthday Bash with a Difference
Thank you all , you lovely people on the best internet site there is, for your comments on my having posted an insane number of blips. Two anniversaries in as many months with all the kudos that entails is a trifle embarrassing, but thank you anyway, it was much appreciated.
It may be blowing a houlie and flinging stair rods of rain at the window this morning, but last night at our Birthday slip bash it was dead calm and the midges were ecstatic, eying up much naked flesh for their own celebratory feast. Precautions were taken of course- there were nets and hats with nets (see extra) and much fanning with anything to hand, not to mention Skin So Soft being sprayed on liberally. Fortunately the wonderful array of snackettes were enclosed in a large tent with a big zip and a no entry sign for the midges.
People dipped and treble dipped and sorties into the portable sauna between the dips with some glued to their glasses of Prosecco. One of the injured Selkies not dipping acted as sommelier for the evening keeping everyone’s glass filled such that many of us didn’t realise how much we had imbibed until too late. I have reason to believe there were a few sore heads this morning, mine included. Perhaps the midges than didn’t drown in our glasses got their fill second hand from our blood.
Despite the midges it was a wonderful night of celebration for Heather the birthday girl and is a lovely memory to put into my memory bank.
I have battled my way this morning to order some books from the library and tried to take a photograph of the sea but the results don’t do justice to the angry swell of a boiling sea. Now I’m waiting for a phone call appointment from the Physiotherapist in Edinburgh to give me the results of my knee X-ray and ask me if the injection she gave me 2 weeks ago has helped. I suppose it has to a small extent………
My Edinburgh visiting Selkie has kindly asked me for a meal tonight with her family. All this unaccustomed excitement is affecting my sleep pattern, but I’m so looking forward to the company and the craic. I’ll let you know if there’s anything worth repeating.
PS My physio tells me I have fluid on my knee maybe caused by meniscus damage. The injection should help as will exercise in the sea and with the sea off the boil, 2 stalwart ladies and I braved the waves to be bounced about for an exhilarating 20minutes
