Asante ya Punda

The end of last week was intense as I had a peer on my Masters Programme visit me for a work shadowing. Lorenz came out from Germany and as a treat for coming out we took him to Naivasha. He's a keen photographer so on the way we stopped at this small dam and got out the car to photograph this man collecting water. I have always wanted to stop here but this time I had an excuse.

In a country where our politicians are paid more than their British counterparts, it seems criminal that we can't even provide the basic needs of water to a rural community. This man is fetching water from a stagnant dam that is a source of water for goats and cows. As we say, Asante ya Punda ni mateke (The thanks of a donkey is a kick)
