The Way I See Things

A late afternoon yomp along the riverbank at Barton netted me a couple of Beautiful Demoiselles, forty or so Banded, eight or ten White-legged Damselflies, a couple of Blue-tailed Damselflies, and two Brown Hawkers. Conditions were tricky for photography though, with a stiff, gusty breeze and very changeable light.

My favourite subject of the day was this female Banded Demoiselle - quite old now, but still looking pretty good - who posed beautifully in the midst of a toning nettle patch. I talked on Sunday about the Banded Demoiselle's habit of submerging to oviposit, and looking at the mud deposits on her legs and the water marks on her wings, I'd say that this one has been doing just that.
