Ella and Kobi at the dog show

Today was very hot so we went to the Simonside Show which was held in a field about 5 miles away. We watched the pipe band, the quoits, the sheep, the Westmorland and Cumberland wrestling, a steam engine and old tractors and Nathaniel and his mum took part in the egg throwing competition. They were soon eliminated.

The best part for Ella was befriending a husky called Kobi as he was about to enter the dog show. He didn’t win a rosette but when it was the class to show the dog you’d most like to take home she asked the owner if Kobi was going to try. He said if she wanted she could parade him round the ring. It made her day. He was so calm and well-behaved but they didn’t win anything. She loved it though.

Meanwhile Thomas and James won £50 first prize in the sandcastle building completion at Whitley Bay so a successful day all round.

Now I must sort out clothes for a cold and wet Edinburgh. I’m away for 3 nights but everything must go in a small rucksack as I’ll be carrying it around all day.
