Northern Kin Day two

Another lovely sunny day with much less wind than Friday. Luckily all the awnings and rents out up yesterday seemed to have survived the overnight wind. We haven’t bothered with the awning but instead used our windbreak between the caravan and Stuart’s camper van.

After a cooked breakfast (what is it about being away from home that makes me want to eat a cooked breakfast every day?) which really hit the spot we got organised to head into the arena. I’d woken very early so was able to use the portaloos and fill up the water barrel before having a cup of rea and a slice of toast before Mr PHL surfaced.

There was hardly any cloud cover so plenty of sunscreen was required. A good day of music started with a new band called For the love of Shane Macgowan. The singer had worked with Shane over the years and the singing was interspersed with great stories. They were excellent musicians and were followed by a trio called the Wandering hearts who sand some lovely ballads.

As the food offerings are mostly chip based we headed back to caravan to enjoy some snacks and a tasty tomato sauce with pasta which Stuart had made using homegrown produce from his garden.

Swapped out shorts for jeans and headed back into the arena. The bag searches on entry are quite thorough and despite being allowed his camera with different lenses on Friday, that wasn’t allowed today so Mr PHL had a long walk back to drop off his camera. He made it back in time to see Peatbog Faeries perform a very energetic set which went down well with the audience. They were followed by The Feeling who played some of their hits and a great cover of Video killed the Radio Star’. I was interested to be told that they had been involved in the music for ‘Everyone’s mad about Jamie’.

Our friend Stuart spent the Waterboyd set down the stage as he’s a huge fan. Great music to finish my night as I didn’t want to stay up for Hawkins but did stop at the tent to see some of their spectacular light shows. Stuart opted to come back with me whilst Mr PHL stayed for the rest of the set. Another late night as we stayed up talking till past midnight.
