Bruges day 4 30th anniversary
Today is our 30th wedding anniversary and the reason for our short break in Belgium.
We got up early and had a quick breakfast before packing and then hiring bikes. We cycled around Bruges which I'd highly recommend as there's a cycle path around most of the city and also lots of cycle friendly routes. The roads felt very safe as there's hardly any cars - most people cycle or walk - there are bikes everywhere! Going for a ride early in the day meant it was quieter but also cooler as it was another scorcher.
Unfortunately, we couldn't keep the bikes for too long as we didn't want to miss our train. We returned the bikes, I quickly changed, we checked out and then walked to the Kiss and Ride bus stop to wait for the free bus to the station. We were lucky to get seats on the bus and easily found our train to Brussels. We were delayed by nearly an hour on the Eurostar (not quite an hour which would have meant a 25% refund!!) and arrived in St Pancras about 12 minutes before our train home from Euston. A quick run meant we made it just in time and we heaved a big sigh of relief as we sat down! Dad collected us from the station and we arrived home happy but exhausted. It was a fantastic experience and we made memories that I will treasure.
Thank you for the last 30 years of being my husband and my best friend. Love you Mr L. Xx
