As Good As It Got.

This is Wigan Warriors' superstar full back Jai Field during the warm up before today's game at Headingley, versus Leeds Rhinos.

Rugby Rant Stuff - ignore if not your thing. Regular chat below.

Wigan were awful. We dropped the ball, missed tackles and showed no enthusiasm. No one seemed to have any idea with the ball. The referee cut us less slack than he did the home team, including disallowing a perfectly good try (The Sky commentators agreed!) but even so it's no excuse for the performance we saw today. I guess having three tough games in nine days would take its toll..

It got worse in the second half: we had a player sin binned because a Leeds player play-acted like a footballer, and worse, we had the normally calm headed Harry Smith sent off because he let a notorious wind-up merchant get under his skin. This will mean him missing the next big game. If the one who was sin binned also gets a ban, we will not have a goal kicker.

Normal service resumed.

Before the game we parked up outside Grace's house and had a quick chat with her. Once the shit-show was over we went back to hers for tea. She had the house to herself as Sophia is away on holiday with her family still, most of the other house mates are on their break from uni, and James, Grace's old school friend was away for the day too. She made fish fingers and chips for Bri and a lovely tofu and tomato dish with couscous for herself and me.

We'll see her again tomorrow at Jeri's and next week is Magic Weekend, when we will be staying at hers overnight since it too is in Leeds. If we'd been better organised we could have brought her back with us and she could have booked a train home* tomorrow.

*I have to accept that her home is there and not here now. My youngest child is fledged!
