New Dawn

We went on a self-guided tour of the Houses of Parliament this afternoon, and as well as the thrill of seeing rooms we have only previously seen on TV, there was an overwhelming amount of ornate decoration, gold leaf, paintings, statues and so on. However, this modern abstract light installation impressed me most. Designed by Mary Branson, it was installed in 2016, 150 years after the first mass petition calling for women's suffrage. It represents the ongoing 'new dawn' of gender equality, and the changing lights are linked to the tides of the River Thames.
