Car Troubles

Left the youth hostel this morning at 7:45am and made the 1.5 hr trip to Alness for Parkrun. A really good event and great bunch of volunteers and runners.

Met my friend A from Aboyne and we headed north to tackle Scotland’s most northerly Munro Ben Hope which is about 15 miles north of Altnaharra. In other words, the middle of nowhere.

5 miles from our final destination my car stopped with a warning that the battery was not charging and went into limp mode.

We had to abandon in a lay-by and call the RAC. They won’t be here until after 7pm tonight. This was around 1pm in the afternoon.

A and I walked the 15.5km to and back from the hotel for a pint and returned to await the mechanic.

Fingers crossed he can repair as I’m meant to be meeting the Larbert mob tomorrow at Glen Shiel for another day of hillwalking.

If you’re going to break down, you are as well doing in the middle of bloody nowhere.

Extra is of a nice rainbow overlooking Ben Klibreck.
