Mother and Child
Before it got too hot, B and I set out for our 10,000-step-walk in the vineyards and orchards. We didn’t meet many people, but these two red squirrels crossed the road just in front of us, and went up a tree. One of them was still small, so the other one must have been its mother.
They were playful and curious, watching us while we watched them, and allowing me to come close enough to take this picture. The juvenile is in front, facing downward, with his mother behind him.
You can see the tip of her tail behind the young one, and compare their size. I don’t think I have ever seen such a small squirrel.
