Gaura lindheimeri 'The Bride'

This is a lovely plant that comes back in a pot each year, it’s not done as well this time but the ones I planted around the garden haven’t made it through the winter which is strange considering how exposed this one is. I guess a plant will only grow where it chooses.
Visited mum today, she seemed quite down & not very interested in anything, she’s 93 & asked where her mother was, we said we thought she was in the kitchen - which she just accepted, it’s so sad.
C & I called on H who lives on the opposite side of the valley to see if we could see our house from her garden but we couldn’t pick it out in the distance even through binoculars. We stayed for coffee & cake & shared a fresh fig her son had brought back from his garden in Portugal.
When I got home by using my long camera lens I was able to see her house in the distance.
