I Ran

This is where I spent much of today...King Tut's Wah Wah Tent at T in the Park. I was there with friend and fellow blipper EllieS

I drove the 140 miles or so up to Perth and Kinross early this morning, picking up Ellie en route in Edinburgh. We caught some pretty awesome music in the tent - highlights for me were Hurts and the godlike genius that is Mr Johnny Marr. He performed his own stuff plus some Smiths classics including one of my favourite songs of all time (There is a Light that Never Goes Out). Ahhhhmazing!

Later on in the day we managed to squeeze onto the front row at the barrier for main stage headliners (and the biggest reason I was there) The Killers. Outstanding. They rocked the place and the T crowd was as raucous as ever. My voice is now shot after their set, and so are my legs but it was worth it.

Afterwards we got stuck in the traffic jam of a car park for several hours. You will have to see tomorrow's blip for more when I have the energy to write it...

Things I learned today:

Fashion stuff

The current fashion is for girls of all shapes and sizes to wear shorts which come all the way up over your tummy and belly button but neglect to cover your bum. I will not be following that fashion you will be pleased to know.

Apparently you still must wear colourful Hunter wellingtons and welly socks at a festival even if the ground is baked dry.

Crochet tops are still very in.

So are stripes of luminous paint on cheeks, flowers in your hair and fairy lights around your cowboy hat.

Music stuff:
The lead singer of The 1975 is the spitting image of Brian Molko of Placebo circa 1998 and he is also the son of Denise Welch and Tim Healy.

Avoid listening to Disclosure. EVER. I am still trying to figure out why all the kids were cheering at this 'band' with their every subtle tap of a percussion instrument or press of a button. This makes me sound old. So what.

Stereophonics are a bit dull. Sorry Stereophonics fans.

Earth, Wind and Fire have produced some awesome tunes.

Deap Vally are a band to watch. Especially for blokes. And even for women actually: too intimidatingly gorgeous for words. They pack a punch musically too. Imagine a scantily-clad californian all girl version of White Stripes.

Other stuff:

You can't buy Irn Bru in T. It may well be a Scottish institution but it isn't owned by sponsors Pepsi. Scandalous or what?

There was a constant flock of seagulls hovering ominously overhead. Wear a hat.

Ah what a day. Loved it.
