Eristalis pertinax 2024

My first sighting this year of a Tapered Drone Fly (Eristalis pertinax) - a male of the species feeding on the flowers of some long-leaved Mint (Mentha longifolia) in our back garden. The insect population in the garden seems at last to be recovering back toward more typical late-summer levels.
