Summer of 1974

Time goes by so fast!!
Fifty years ago I went to England to work as a chalet maid at Butlins Holiday Camp in Skegness for two months during the summer of 1974.
It was my first  experience of many things: travelling abroad, travelling by plane, travelling without my family, working to earn money, being away for so long...
I was excited and scared when I was preparing for this trip. I knew that things were very different in England from the closed and repressed society we had in Spain. Franco was still alive and there was no freedom in our lives.
It was a great summer. I made good friends, I learnt a lot of English and I learnt about making beds. As a whole I had a very good time.
I knew I was just starting to live then!
