Vintage

This is one of the oldest things we have in the house. It's a proud possession of Igor. He likes to tell people it's his first camera and he's had it since it was new :-) In fact it is a vintage 1896 Instantograph so it was made quite a few years before he was born.

It's a mahogany plate camera so the film is put into a plate which then sits on the back of the camera. The aperture is changed by slotting the small metal plates with different sized holes, shown here, in behind the lens. The shutter action is just removing the lens cap. Sounds simple but I guess that all the work then went into developing the image. I gave my image a vintage look by pressing a few keys on the computer, simples!!
