Until it started to rain heavily I was busy in the garden. Weevils, snails and the attractive Rosemary beetle were among the pests but I did not mind seeing this young Birch shieldbug on the garden bin with its markings looking like a happy face. It is yet to change into an adult with its shield shape then will overwinter as an adult before mating next spring with its larvae feeding mainly on the numerous silver birch trees nearby, They are welcome to munch at the birch leaves but the Rosemary beetle can damage our lavender and plants show evidence of weevils and snails.
