Cordulegaster diastatops

We call ‘em dragonflies, but the Photos app identifies this as a Delta-spotted Spiketail. Either way, I was thrilled to see it! Mr S spotted it hanging from the lace curtain in the dining room of all places.  I had all the time in the world to marvel over it, as it was pretty lethargic. I figure it was a good four inches long, and fascinating. I managed to loosen the curtain rod and carry the whole arrangement outside, and next time I looked the dragonfly was gone, so I guess that’s a happy ending.
