Advancing Weather Front

I was awake very early this morning and looked out at this rather beautiful but complex cloud formation. It seemed to predict that the good weather was about to depart. Dense stratus and stratocumulus clouds were blocking the view to the Campsie Hills. However a top layer of altostratus above the approaching weather front was catching the sun's early rays in a spectacular way (Best viewed large). The temperature is certainly dropping and a sprinkling of rain today is on the cards. However by the weekend it's predicted to be back into the 80s!

As the contrast in the scene between the bright sky and the foreground was considerable, I set auto HDR with its merging of exposures for lighter and darker parts of the scene. I also added a poster edges filter to enhance the painterly feel to this landscape study.
