A Matthew A Day

Family cycling

We got less cycling in than planned today, because poor Mike was stuck in bed this morning with a migraine. Matthew didn't mind the extra half day at home though, and thankfully Mike recovered enough for a gentle loop near Brockenhurst. 18km which is just over 11 miles in old money. Really lovely to be out in the middle of the Forest, even if the tracks which are permitted for cycling are all a bit broad and, well, the opposite of off the beaten track. Perfect for recovering poorly people!

Bikes returned we got to the station with a train due in 12 minutes... which due to disruption was semi-cancelled (no longer calling at our stop) and the following one was late, so we were about 45 minutes delayed. That would get us half the train ticket cost in Delay Repay compensation, but I'm not sure I can face the paperwork for the sake of £3.50 :) we spent more than that on additional refreshments!

Still haven't 100% decided what to do tomorrow, it may involve rope swings and den building and the local pub, but planning to get the train down to Hinton Admiral on Friday and walk down to High Cliffe for the beach.
