I've spent the last couple of evenings making this bow from offcuts of wedding dress. The bow will decorate the cake. The bride is a very talented young woman who is doing her own cake and her own flowers. I am glad to be able to create the decoration she had envisaged. I'm not required at the wedding and am very happy about that.
On Monday I was warned that the Queens Park area of Bedford had been selected as a target for trouble on Wednesday night and it appears that it is common knowledge. Darkness has now fallen and I'm just waiting to hear the sirens or see the sky glow red. My flat faces the railway lines, Queens Park is across the tracks and that's where our largest mosque is. The police are prepared and when I saw some waiting in their car I stopped to thank them. I'm concerned that the white supremacists might choose a softer target when they see how prepared we all are. There's a much smaller Islamic Community hub just round the corner from my flat.
I'm not concerned for myself, I just hate the thought that people from outside Bedford want to come here tonight to cause trouble for my neighbours.
