A simple monument to a very very brave man who took a major German position in ww2 but wounded he was bandaged so his arms couldn’t move but still insisted on taking his turn on watch and when a grenade was thrown into the hole unable to return it he threw his body over it to save his men. At 21 years of age

Joe Mann ,American soldier, served with the 101st US Army Airborne Division during Operation Market-Garden killed in action at Best around the bridge over the Wilhelmina Canal on 19 September 1944 by sacrificing himself to save his fellow soldiers.
