This is Laura, one of the very skilled teachers at the voice institute where I've been studying for the last two years. She was one of the facilitators today of a master class and started us off with some chanting accompanied by her Shruti box, shown here. It's similar to a harmonium and works on a system of bellows. Laura used it to demonstrate the similarities to our breathing technique, which was brilliant.

I sang a Puccini aria - it felt very free and easy after the chanting and breathing session!
