MY NEW BEST FRIEND!

Yet another trip to the horse barns at MSU today. The difference here is there's someone taking a picture of someone taking pictures! After we'd been there awhile, the moms & kids came back into this grassy pasture. Luckily I thought to pick handfuls of grass and clover and stuck it through the fence for this little guy. I wouldn't normally feed the animals - and definitely wouldn't bring food for them - but after all, they were in this pasture to nibble on the grass. He was a very gentle eater and only took the grass from my hand with his soft lips. Usually my hand was flat, but one time - without thinking - my thumb was slightly raised. He very lightly tested it with his teeth, but didn't actually bite. He stayed with me quite a while. Dad thought of taking my picture with his iPad since I was having so much fun. I'm so glad he did!

When we arrived, it seemed to be naptime as many of the foals were lying down and the mares were just standing still - all the while in the hot sun without any shade. (They were in a different pasture at first.) I took several shots, but none were particularly interesting except for this very tender moment between a mother and son (on Flickr) - she spent several minutes nuzzling him.

Over in another pasture, all alone, was a beautiful white stallion. (another Flickr pic) He seemed a bit restless or maybe just had something on his mind. A couple times he broke into a run around his yard - it was really beautiful to see his mane and tail flowing in the wind.

I've sure enjoyed the trips to the MSU farms, but all good things must come to an end. Tomorrow my favorite blip assistant will be back on the golf course, and I'll be searching for blipable moments on my own. It's been a fun weekend!
