Fallen leaves

Are worrying me - the cornus contraversa has shed half its leaves and I'm more than a TINY bit concerned for it.
Dig down and the soil is dry and whilst it has rained and been watered the garden is obviously lacking that deep damp.
A mainly sunny day with morning coffee and evening drinks on the terrace.
Some weeding - what else around the garden. Measuring the rear yard.
Dinner of quiche (two variations catering for awkward persons) boiled new Ayrshire tatties and brocolli.
