A boxful of Memories

When I travelled abroad I usually brought back a doll for Johanna and Julia, unless it was somewhere that I'd already been and bought a doll.
Today, I went into the attic, via Marlane's walk in wardrobe, to find a couple of dolls. They have china faces, hands and legs and are about 18 inches high and dressed as brides. They were, of course, at the bottom of the plastic box and while digging my way down I came across dolls from Ireland, Brussels, Paris, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Holland, Ukraine, Turkey, Greece, Oman, Russia, Portugal and more!
Quite a memory lane to walk down. they all have memories but the Paris one was a bit of a trek.
In Marne-la-Valee, near to Bussey-St-Georges, I finished teaching my install and maintenance course early on a Friday and had some time to kill before the scheduled flight back to LHR. There was another of my colleagues on the same flight so we took the hire car into Paris to look for the doll, which is just below centre in the box. I parked in a street close to the Notre Dame cathedral where a lot of other cars were parked and we walked up and down streets looking for this doll. After about an hour my friend said he needed a beer so we agreed to stop at the first bar we came to on the way back to the car. That bar happened to be about 30 yards from the car in a direction we hadn't taken and there, in the window, was the doll and other tourist type souvenirs. His reaction was that if we'd walked that way he could have had half a dozen beers in that time HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Anyway, got back to the car to find the whole row of parked cars had parking tickets. I've no idea how much it was for as we drove to CDG airport and left France, and the parking fine, behind! I don't know what happened to it as it was a hire car and we heard no more about it.
