Gently down the stream

Juvenile Moorhen

Today I walked my camera through the park, looking for the heron that's supposed to be about again.  Well, I didn't see it, but I did get pictures of this juvenile moorhen.  I have rather ambivalent feelings towards moorhens.  The adults seem foolishly hysterical.  They also swim under the water - so I've been told - and grab the legs of ducklings to drown them and feed to their own chicks.  However, the little black babies with red and yellow fuzz on their heads are enchanting and these juveniles I also find pretty cute.  Well, that's nature, isn't it!

The rest of the day's been pretty normal.  A present from Little Sis turned up in the porch this morning (it's my birthday on Saturday) and a pub lunch with Big Sis has been arranged for Thursday - and I think a present from J/K also turned up from Amazon or similar, but I haven't been allowed to see the package ;))  The awful thing is I had to ask Big Sis how old I was going to be.  I couldn't remember. Ah, well, that's dementia for you - no, seriously I shouldn't be joking about things like that ;)))

Take care, all  xx
