My Maplin nail-finder no longer seems to work, so until I can get a fancy new one like the wee warbling Bosch thing my dad has, it was much easier to just go into the loft and stab holes through the plaster to indicate the positions of any joists which might like to have a ceiling-mounted multi-layer curtain track attached to them.
