Looking Down

Looking down from Beeston Castle in Cheshire, perched on a rocky sandstone crag 350 feet above the Cheshire Plain.
It was built in the 1220s by Ranulf de Blondeville, 6th Earl of Chester, on his return from the Crusades.

This 'Castle of the Rock' is famous for its spectacular views, which take in no less than eight counties on a clear day.
From its lookout point at the top of a mighty crag, you can see from the Pennines all the way to the Welsh mountains.
