Broken down car... boo.

So after spending a very pleasant evening with friends yesterday, we took my mum and dad out for lunch to a lovely little country pub in Warnham, the Sussex Oak. Stayed for a few hours sitting in the shade and then dropped them back home. So far so good.

Heading back home however and the car suddenly lost all power. Queue a call to green flag and about 20 mins later a very nice man came to try and get us going again. He didn't.

But he did find the cause of the problem - shredded secondary cambelt. Bugger. Crap. And various other expletives. Towed home by some snazzy kit that folds down out the back of the van and eventually turns into a trailer.

Only had the cam belt service done on it last week. Just hoping that no damage had been done to the engine. Didn't hear any nasty noises so keeping my fingers crossed. But our mechanic is on holiday for a week, we'll see what he says when he gets back. Sigh.

In the meantime it's the van all week, no fans no air con, no power steering, etc, etc, but also no cam belt needed.
