Letters from long ago

Letters and telegrams were the only way to communicate with one's family and friends during the second world war.  The letters with "On Active Service" and "Passed by Censor" on the envelopes were written by my Uncle Jack, who was fighting in Tunisia, to his parents in London and to his sister (my mother) who was living in Kampala at the time with her first husband.  Very sadly, Jack was killed shortly after he'd written these letters. The larger letter was from Grandpa to Mummy comforting her about losing her beloved brother.  The letters are beautifully written and so poignant.  I don't know how long they took to get to their destination but it was light years away from the instant communication we are so used to today.
