Summer Fete
This afternoon we accompanied my Mother to her Care Home's annual Family Day/Fete. Here she is outside the home when I took her back. We enjoyed visiting the various stalls, chatting to people, and listening to the music. I won a prize in the raffle; to our great amusement it was an appointment for lash extensions/ brow lamination, which I quickly donated to the care home staff for them to fight over!
Lovely Prom tonight with Elgar's cello concerto played by BBC Symphony Orchestra and Finnish cellist Senja Rummukainen, followed by Gustav Holst's The Cloud Messenger, with Alto Jess Dandy, and BBC Symphony Chorus. This second piece was being performed for the first time ever at the Proms, which I thought was surprising, since it seemed (at least to me) a most interesting composition, comparable to his Planets Suite in complexity and mysticism.
