Art on a skateboard ramp
The site of the old Fulford Inn has some ramps for skateboarders, and one of them has this on it. One of our neighbours skateboards there sometimes. The site has many cracks that are filling up with weeds. Construction of who knows what is supposed to happen there, but nothing so far. It would be a great place for a park, but I think the developer has condos and a restaurant in mind. There has been a lot of opposition from locals.
Edit: I found this website. Not an idea location for what's proposed. Not sure where water would come from and how sewage would be handled.
More info:“The Vortex project, as proposed, threatens the biodiversity of Fulford Estuary and the ecologically sensitive, significant fish-bearing Fulford Creek. Vulnerable populations of salmonids as well as winter seabirds would be at risk. Much local effort over the last four decades that has restored habitat in this watershed could be negated. Negative effects could significantly and adversely affect the entire ecosystem, from fishes to birds to invertebrates to eelgrass beds....We are also concerned about the potential for sewage pollution from the development. This area requires protection, not only for its aquatic biodiversity, but also for all the terrestrial life with which it interacts. Furthermore, it provides ecosystem services such as serving as a carbon sink and mitigating erosive effects of high-water levels." (BC Nature)
