Wastwater and The Screes
Due to technical difficulties I am unable to upload the photo I took today.
So you have a view of Wastwater and The Screes. England's deepest lake and one of the most dramatic locations favoured by walkers, climbers, fell runners, and adventurers from all over the world.
I was on a walking weekend with son J, and this was in 2016.
The view is taken from the slopes of Yewbarrow, one of my favourite outings.
It was fine and sunny initially, by the time we summited it was a blizzard.
We came down a place called Stirrup Crag, a steep and rocky descent, in icy wind and snow.
It was only after we had navigated our way to safety (ha!) that I slipped on wet grass and took the front of my shin off on a rock which broke my fall.
I screamed with the shock and pain and rolled down hill. My son said he was impressed with the roll!
No broken bones or serious injury but there was blood, bad language and a long limp home. I still have the scars.
Happy days!
