Peace and reconciliation

This evening, I was at a special service at Dunscore Church. We had a speaker, Maureen Jack, who spoke about her work as an Ecumenical Accompanier (EA) in a village on the West Bank. EAs are volunteers who monitor human rights abuses, protect people through a nonviolent international presence, support Israel and Palestinian peace activists and undertake advocacy work.

Let the white bones fall into sleep
Let the grieving souls rest peacefully
Turn the slaughtering soul to the cast of a warning
Let the names of the departed be engraved in history
Let children no longer be faced with fear
Let the mothers no longer shed their tear
Let war be distant from all mankind
Let peace spread fully to the world
