The Prattigau Valley

It rained overnight and this morning was a bit cloudy, but the sun soon came out and we have had a lovely sunny and warm day. We decided to go up Madrisa mountain and walk down the Prattigua Valley to the little village of Saas. The path was very steep with loose stones so it was quite slippery, I did not enjoy that, and you had to be so careful. The walking paths get ruined by the bikes and this is a good example of that. We saw no one else on our hike today, possibly because other walkers deem that path to be too steep and slippery. This is the view down the valley from half way down the mountain, we ended up in that village you can see with the white church tower.

On our hike down I phoned Adam to check that all was well with his flight, and he told us that when they checked in at the airport, Anna was told that she was not being allocated a seat as they may need to remove her from the flight. Apparently the plane needed to take off very vertically so it required more fuel and therefore they had to take passengers off the flight!! Honestly, you cannot make this stuff up, British Airways are just so ridiculous. It's a shame that our national carrier is just so useless when it used to be one of the best airlines in the world. At the last moment they were told that Anna could board the flight!! Another flight before theirs was cancelled due to adverse weather...in London and in Zurich?

So frustrating for them to travel with such uncertainty. Things just don't seem to work as they used to. I made an appointment today with a dermatologist as I have a suspicious looking mole that has appeared in the last couple of months - I decided to go private as I did not want to wait months for an appointment. Imagine my surprise when on authorised private health care the first appointment I can get is in 3 months time!

When we reached Saas we had a salad for lunch and then got the train back up the valley home again.

I was relieved to pick up Adam and Anna from the station later this afternoon. It's good to have them here!
