Wirral

We decided to have a bike ride on the Wirral today. By the time we'd packed up and reached Thurstaston Country Park it was lunch time so we had our picnic before we set off. We cycled round the coast to Hoylake where it was compulsory to have an ice cream! We were enjoying it so much we extended the ride and went along to Leasowe lighthouse before we headed back inland and then in a circle back onto the coast.

It was a glorious afternoon and easy riding, which is good as I haven't ridden my bike since last June! The full ride was approx. 18 miles. The first 17.5 were fine but then, having just come through a gate the track turned a corner and immediately went up hill, it was a busy junction with other cyclists and walkers. I stopped and put my foot down ... at least I thought I did but there was a slight dip next to the path, my foot missed the path and the next thing I knew I'd headbutted the wooden fence, which thankfully seemed to be made of rubber, and ended up in the dip sandwiched between the path and the fence with my bike on top of me! Like a good blipper my main concern as I fell was my camera!!! Huddsbird and a very nice man who was passing untangled me from my bike.

Thankfully, apart from a few lovely bruises the only thing that was hurt was my pride! When we got back to the country park we decided doctors advice was another ice cream, which was followed by a large Pimms when we got home!
