Face in the Tiles

This intriguing stairwell is in the Hayesfield Girls' School in Bath, where I went to a concert today. When you look down at the tiles at the bottom of the stairs, they just look like a pleasing decorative pattern. It was only when I took a picture that I could see the face, which is very clear in the photo. Fascinating.
