Vest Life
It was overcast and humid this morning when we set out for a walk round the moor with our London guests. The heather was almost out with the gorgeous honey scent just discernible. I had something annoying, in my walking shoe, but couldn’t get it out so carried on. At home I found, inside my sock - not a small stone - one of Mr C’s hearing aid batteries! He’d “mislaid” one (dropped it) and it must have stuck to my foot before I put on my sock.
We had a late lunch in the garden then Mr C drive them down to the Newcastle bus. They walked from the bus station down the hill to Central Station where they got their London train. We’ve had such a lovely time with them. They are easy guests.
Mr C and I got the food into the van and by 4.30 we were at Pippins Park at Christon Bank. It’s a gorgeous small site but right by the main Edinburgh-London railway line. Katy and Colin were already there and settled in. They made themselves grilled sausages and burgers and I provided the salads. We went to the Blink Bonny pub at 7.30 and got seats - it’s a tiny too hot pub and was very full, mostly with very noisy people. I was Thankful for the smoking ban. I thought they played blues/soul but now it’s pop. They call themselves Vest Life. The loud people got louder, singing along. Mr C turned off his hearing aids. We lasted till the interval then had to leave as Mr C was very tired from all the driving with visitors and the late nights we had.
Colin is on the left.
