Another flower

This time an echinacea - growing in a pot in my back garden. Echinacea is supposed to support the immune system - so many people around me have Covid again perhaps I should eat it instead of taking a photo of it. This morning I did a bit of work on my plot before again it got too hot for me. Some boring cleaning and admin, then off to Oxfam.
Well, the most shocking thing happened and I’m very lucky to be ok. I have to go up a curved ramp road to get up onto the elevated dual carriageway that crosses the river and the Cumberland basin. A bit like a motorway slip road. As I drove up it, suddenly from around the curve was a car driving down it! He must have done a 350 degree left turn to get onto the slipway going the wrong way. I had a split second of thinking “I’m going to be squashed’” but amazingly, I did a good emergency stop, so did the young woman in the car behind me, he slowed and went around me. And I wasn’t squashed. But I was very shaken. I would have got his number and reported him to the police, because he really should not be driving ( I think he might be a bit Joe Biden- like ie stubborn about his age and capacity). He responded to my blast of hooting by swearing at me as if I was being unreasonable:)
Anyhow I got through the rest of the day unscathed, though the heat and humidity are quite difficult.
In the late afternoon the vet rang me with Portia’s blood test results. If you see my journal regularly you will remember Portia’s blood test. Anyhow she has the beginnings of kidney disease. So they want to check her blood pressure next week to see what effect it has on her health overall. I’ll be interested to see how they do that:-)) There are options re diet etc. I’m already adding masses of water to her food to get liquids in her. Like most cats she doesn’t drink at all. And it makes me sad as it reminds me I won’t always have her - though of course we know this whenever we get a pet animal. But I’ll do everything I can to help keep her well.
