Peregrination
It is perhaps fitting that my three week peregrination should conclude this morning in the Kings School Boathouse with a lecture on the Cathedral’s resident peregrine falcons. It was a double act - Chris Baines, who amongst all his other activities sits on the Cathedral’s Fabric Committee. And Chris Dobbs, who is the local peregrine expert (and excellent wildlife photographer). It was a well attended event, and really interesting.
On the way from the Premier Inn to the festival site I heard peregrines, and found the resident pair perched high up on the spire of the former St Andrews church (the rest of the church was demolished in 1949). Known as the Glovers Needle the spire is the tallest structure in Worcester. The main image shows the top of the spire, with each bird perched in front of a small opening. It’s been another hot day, so a blue sky has to feature. Three extras - a closer up view of the two birds, and even closer of the male bird, and the Needle in context.
After attending another concert I headed home. I’ve enjoyed the Festival experience, it’s been a really friendly event.
