How to survive a heatwave!
First thing: in the garden chopping back the Valerian before it distributed it's million seeds everywhere. It was too late for some of the little fluffy parasols that were already escaping but hopefully I've put a stop to a major invasion next year. In fact I'm thinking it's already spread far enough and that I might get rid of some of the plants before next year. It looks lovely when it first comes out and it's one of the few plants that will seed in ugly and neglected walls.
Cannon Hall: lunchtime followed by a walk under the trees (the lime-tree walk) and then back across the grass to the house.
Lazy afternoon: too hot to be out so a time to read the paper and blip. The breeze is cooling the temperature now, so it will soon be time to go outside and water the pots.
