Durham Miners Gala

Trek back over to the north east this weekend to see the in-laws. It was also the annual Durham Miners Gala weekend. I had been meaning to go for years and the last time I was there was in 1999.

The event has broadened out to include many unions from other industries. But there are still banners to be seen from the former pit villages in the area.

These three were really getting into the spirit of the event by applauding the brass bands who were playing some very contemporary tunes. Just snapped a pic of them on my phone as I thought it would make a different Blipfoto. I will be posting a selection of my other pics on my webpage at:
