Hornet Hoverfly ?

This was a large insect - about 2 cm long. I don't think I've seen one before, but I looked it up, and I think it is the Hornet mimic. I believe it is our largest hoverfly, If I am incorrect, I will be back to update the blip. I've put the photos on the ISpot website so someone should be along soon to help with identification,

I've not been well the last few days and spent two of them in bed. Not sure if it was a very nasty cold / cough or covid. Whatever, I am beginning to feel better .

Update: someone has agreed with me and they are described as an expert, so we will go with Hornet Hoverfly ( volucella zonaria)
