I think it’s an artichoke flower

With a bee, who was on there for ages, but insisted on hiding. On my neighbour’s plot, but the plant is so huge it’s partially in mine too. I went to the allotment fairly early - ended up working from about 9 to 12 which was pretty warm by the end. Everything was looking really beautiful - I think I was the only person there. I was pleased to see a local cat lurking around - as there is a bit of a problem with rats. Though, since we now have video evidence of deer, badgers - and foxes of course - the rats may be unfairly blamed. In the afternoon I watch an exciting Olympics event, men racing on mountain bikes. I can’t imagine having the stamina they have. The electrician finally came and finished off. In the evening I went to see Twisters - a film about tornadoes in Oklahoma, the damage they do, and the people who chase them. Quite fun, and really dramatic of the weather in that area.
