When we prepared the house for the builders to have access, our grand daughter was staying with us and she helped move things into that part of the downstairs that was having no changes. She and Young L were taken with the box containing the Mah Jong set, before it was placed in safety.

Four or five weeks ago, I had a yen to find time to have a game, and try as I would I could not find where it had been placed. S reassured me that the small camphor box would be there somewhere and recently it surfaced. 

S and I were introduced to Mah Jong by a couple of close friends. They had a superb old set of tiles. Neither S nor I liked plastic ones. One weekend, the personal ads in the NZ Herald carried a notice by someone wanting to sell their old set (having just got a modern set), and we were able to buy (at a very reasonable price) this set; bone on bamboo. Fortuitously, it fits almost perfectly into the small camphor box
