London day today, a visit to the National Portrait Gallery for a viewing of the entries for the Portrait of the Year. It was incredibly special with heart-warming and heart-wrenching stories behind the portraits. One quick portrait of a husband in his last week of life in a hospice. Another of an Israeli youth, who, shortly after, was captured by Hamas and then killed by accident by his IDF rescuers. And another by the most talented man who chose a self-portrait to illustrate how skewed the world is. And another with the title taken from Ubuntu philosophy; “I am because you are”. Amazing stuff.
And after drinks at St Martin in the Fields we walked to the London Palladium for a superb performance of Hello Dolly, with Imelda Staunton starring. A great day!
