This morning I went down to Sandwick to collect the bags of plastic and other rubbish we'd picked up off the beach and take them to someone who has room for them in her non-recyclable rubbish bin. Unfortunately we share our bins with a neighbour, as we are mid terrace and don't have space for them, and there's certainly not room in them for anything extra.
The kind person asked if I still made jam and pointed me in the direction of her blackcurrant bushes! Together we picked a tub full and chatted away happily. We have known each other for more than 20yrs but never really said more than the basic pleasantries to each other. It was really nice to get to know her, to be picking fruit in the sunshine, relaxedly chatting away. I shall be back with a jar of jam!
The photo is the burn which runs onto the beach at Sandwick. A spot to see otters, but not today.
